// 360° Bird-eye view

OPERATIONAL VEHICLES

360° View

A 360° bird’s eye view camera system merges the feeds of four (or more) cameras into a single top-down view of the vehicle and the area around it.
The operator thus has full awareness of what is happening around the vehicle.

This system eliminates blind spots on vehicles maneuvering in situations where the risk of accidents is highest.

With a single glance at the monitor, the operator checks that the area is clear before moving.
The result is a tangible reduction in accident risk, with less damage to the vehicle, structures and load.

360° bird’s eye view generated in real time around an operating vehicle

No blind spots

Continuous view around the vehicle, with controlled warping and stitching of the feeds into one image.

Distance references

Grids and references can be overlaid on the video to help judge distances during the maneuver.

On-board processing

Proprietary software running on ITEM video processing units: real time, with no latency the operator can perceive.

Maximum precision

Controlled image warping and custom calibration

Camera feeds are warped in a controlled way and recomposed, so that lines on the ground stay straight and continuous across frames.

The quality of the result depends on:

– Custom optical calibration, which we perform during final testing to compensate for lens distortion.
– Overlapping video feeds, which ensure an uninterrupted 360° view.

ITEM hardware

Cameras built to last

The cameras are designed and manufactured in Turin, with patented protection technology and special protective options available on request.

– ECE R10 certified and IP68 rated at 2 atm,
– Type-approved by the Ministry of Transport,
– Anti-fog by design,
– Operating from -55 to 125 °C.

PoE power supply, resolution up to 4K, any connector and lens, custom shapes and dimensions. Mounting brackets are made to measure, and where required we integrate the cameras directly into the existing frame.

integration

Design freedom

With our systems, a dedicated monitor in the cab is not required. The system can integrate with displays and HMIs already on board.
Alternatively, ITEM manufactures monitors with up to 1,500 nits of brightness to stay readable in direct sunlight, in sizes from 5″ to 20″, with 0-100 VDC input and a touchscreen version available.

The same unit generating the 360° view can run other checks in parallel: human detection, detection of specific assets, monitoring of moving parts, all while maintaining real-time performance.
