Vision systems for forklift trucks

ITEM vision systems for forklift trucks solve two major problems: limited visibility behind the load and precision in positioning the forks. Unless the warehouse is fully automated, these situations still depend on the experience and skill of the operator.

We design systems that make operations on board the trucks safe and repeatable. The number and position of the cameras are defined on the specific model and according to the operations performed.

360° view

Bird-eye view around the vehicle for maneuvering in tight spaces, with distance references on the ground.

Ground personnel

Real-time detection of people in the operating area, with an alert to the driver and possible automatic actions.

View from the forks

Framing of the load and pick points when the forks rise above the driver’s line of sight.

Our cameras are certified IP68 at 2 atmospheres and ECE R10, anti-fog by design and operating from -55 to 125 °C.

Power is supplied over PoE and transmission reaches 150 meters with our type-approved switches, simplifying the cabling phase.

Custom interface

Communication with any system already in the cab

Our monitors reach 1,500 nits, in sizes from 5″ to 20″, with 0-100 Vdc power supply and a touchscreen version.

If the vehicle already has a display, we can interface with it directly, avoiding the installation of a dedicated screen.

AI functions

Custom detection

People detection is based on proprietary AI models, trained on public datasets and on images collected in the field. The alert can appear in the cab or become a signal to the vehicle control system.

It is a safety aid, which complements the protections required for the machine and does not replace them.
